Online Portrait Drawing 

Join us online for two hours of portrait drawing, with all abilities welcome! Each week we have a different model posing live over zoom for sketchers from all around the world. In this untutored, clothed portrait session our model will hold three head-and-shoulder focused poses: a 10-minute warm up pose where the model chats to our session leader, giving you the chance to get to know them a bit better followed by two 45-minute-long poses with a short break in-between.  If you’d like some pointers on getting started with a portrait drawing, take a look at this video HERE.  

Our model this week will be Lance, and the session will be led by Draw Head Tutor Jake Spicer - Jake is an experienced teacher and author with a passion for teaching people how to draw. His recent book ‘Figure Drawing’ is available for purchase HERE.

How to join the session 

• You can book a place at the session via Eventbrite for £9 (£6 conc) - just click on the booking link below to be taken to our Eventbrite page.  
• If you’re planning to come more than once, the cheapest way to attend if to sign up to the Draw Patreon HERE on the Portrait Tier (£12+VAT per month) or on the Student Tier for (£8+VAT per month). This will give you free access to all our weekly Monday portrait session, recordings of 180+ previous sessions, access to our tutored Portrait Drawing course and access to our portrait photo library. You can cancel the monthly membership at any time.  

Before the session 

• Before the session, make sure you have a Zoom account and drawing materials for the class 
• At the advertised time of the session, set yourself up to draw in front of your device, sign in to Zoom and click on the link in your email to join the class. 

Looking after the model 

• Please, never take photographs or screen shots of the model during a live class. If you are a Patreon supporter you can use the recorded session to re-visit the poses.  
• Keep your camera ON during the session – this helps the model to feel safe and to maintain the sense of community that is so important to our classes. If you cannot turn your camera on, let the session leader know with a message at the start of the session.  
• You are always welcome to send the model a thankyou tip via the link that accompanies your booking. 

After the session 

• If you’d like to share your drawings with the rest of the community can post them up on the Draw Community Facebook group HERE
• You can also share your work with us on Instagram, tagging the model, tutor & @draw_brighton or using the #drawbrighton hashtag.
