Introduction to Urban Sketching

In this one day Introduction to Urban Sketching course, artist and tutor Lancelot Richardson will give an overview to sketching and drawing on location around the bustling streets of Brighton. If you would like to start sketching out and about, but you’re not quite know how to get started, or you’re looking for advice on how to improve your on-location drawings then this session is for you. Lance will introduce a variety of materials, show you the best set up for drawing on location and lead you on a sketching trip around town.

What to Expect

Starting at the Draw studio, we’ll begin with a series of practical, studio-based exercises before heading out to draw on location, looking at approaches for drawing figures, spaces and buildings and recording some of the character of Brighton. All levels of experience are welcome and all materials for this session will be provided. If you'd like more details about the workshop, please get in touch on info@draw-brighton.co.uk. These sessions feed into our free, monthly Urban Sketching Club which is a wonderful opportunity to explore Brighton with a friendly group of fellow sketchers.

What to Bring

All materials are included with this workshop. You may wish to bring a sketchbook for taking notes and a plastic folder for taking home your drawings.
